UNLV EMergency Medicine Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
The UNLV Emergency Medicine Residency Program is committed to fostering diversity & inclusion within our program. We aim to recruit a diverse set of residents, faculty members, staff, and medical students to be a part of our program. Las Vegas is the most populous city in Nevada with an incredibly diverse patient population, and we recognize the positive impact of having healthcare providers with a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds. As emergency medicine physicians, we are the witnesses every day to disparities in heath care, and therefore must be leaders in addressing health inequities through research and education. Our program understands that improving diversity and inclusion are essential for the well-being, education, innovation and productivity of our team, and health of our community.
We will not discriminate on the basis of age, race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, gender expression, ethnicity, creed, religion, national origin, immigration status, or disability. We encourage all applicants to reach out to our program with any questions or concerns.
Our program supports education, research, and programs that aim to eliminate healthcare inequities and opportunity disparities. Our goal is to recruit, retain, and foster mentorship for those underrepresented in medicine. We aim to achieve this goal through community engagement, longitudinal curriculum incorporated into weekly conferences, mentorship from leaders in social emergency medicine, journal clubs, and monthly Diversity & Inclusion committee meetings. Through outreach, we aim to provide scholarships and programs to disadvantaged and marginalized students in our community.
