Resident Life

The Entertainment Capital of the World

Besides being an excellent location to train as an Emergency Medicine physician, Las Vegas is one of the best cities to live in! Sin City offers world-class dining, easy access to the outdoors, and any kind of entertainment you want. Click here for more information.
Are you a foodie, always looking for the next Instagram shot? Almost every celebrity chef you can name has a restaurant in Vegas. We have the most master sommeliers of any city in the U.S. You can find any type of cuisine - ramen and dim sum in Chinatown, Michelin-starred steakhouses on the Strip, pasta in Summerlin, tapas, tacos, and more!
Have a favorite musician or band? Chances are, they'll be touring or even have a residency in Vegas! We have music festivals year round including EDC, Life is Beautiful, Intersect, and Day N' Vegas. Plus, we staff the medical tents at most of those events, so you'll get free admission!
Looking for hiking, climbing, skiing, or watersports? Nevada is 80% public land, making it incredibly easy to get outside. Red Rock Canyon is 20 minutes away and offers world class climbing and hiking. Mt. Charleston is a great escape in the hot summer months, with skiing and snowboarding at Lee Canyon in the winter. Lake Mead offers water sports and fishing 30 minutes away. Various national parks and ski resorts are within 2 hours.
Interested in arts and culture? The Arts District hosts a "First Friday" each month to highlight local artists and musicians. The Smith Center for Performing Arts features symphony, opera, world class ballet, and Broadway shows. Relax and take in the sights at the Neon Museum, the Mob Museum, or the Las Vegas Natural History Museum. The kids will definitely enjoy the Discovery Children's Museum!
Finally, Las Vegas offers affordable cost of living, with many residents buying or renting homes. No state income tax makes your salary go much further. If you're looking to get out of town for a quick weekend trip, it's easy to catch a flight anywhere you want from McCarran International Airport!
