UMC Trauma REsuscitation Center
The UMC Trauma Resuscitation Center is the only free-standing trauma center west of the Mississippi, and the only Level I trauma center in the state of Nevada. It is essentially an 11-bed emergency department that provides care exclusively to trauma patients, with its own dedicated CT scanner and interventional angiography suite, along with an experienced team of trauma nurses and ancillary staff.
Situated adjacent to the trauma operating rooms and intensive care unit, the Trauma Resuscitation Center is uniquely designed to facilitate rapid evaluation and stabilization of patients with multi-system trauma. In the Trauma Resuscitation Center, Emergency Medicine residents are afforded extensive opportunities to hone their skills in trauma resuscitation and performance of procedures, including orthopedic reductions, procedural sedations, and airway management, in addition to various interventional procedures.
UMC's trauma catchment area is among the largest in the contiguous U.S., and includes the entire state of Nevada, as well as parts of Utah, Arizona and California – over 14,800 patients were evaluated in the Trauma Resuscitation Center last year. We offer specialist coverage in trauma surgery, interventional radiology, pediatric surgery, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, hand surgery, burn care, neurosurgery, spine surgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery, replant surgery, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, oral-maxillofacial surgery, obstetrics & gynecology, dentistry, and urology.

Mike O'callaghan Military Medical Center
Mike O'Callaghan Military Medical Center (MOMMC) is a joint venture shared by the Department of Defense (99th Medical Group) and the VA Southern Nevada Health System. It is located on Nellis Air Force Base (AFB), approximately 15 minutes north of University Medical Center. The MOMMC is a 104-bed federal medical treatment facility (MTF) with its own EMS system serving Nellis AFB, and is now designated as a level-3 trauma center. The newly-designed 22-bed ED had an annual patient volume of almost 33,600 last year, making the MOMMC one the busiest MTFs in the Air Force.
Emergency Medicine residents complete a 4-week rotation in the Emergency Department each year, where they develop their skills in patient evaluation and management, as well as the compassionate delivery of care, in a federal hospital environment caring for military service members, retirees, their families and our nation's veterans.
